Johannesburg-based Flowgear, an Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS), has announced the launch of an Integration and AI Maturity Assessment. This hands-on advisory service helps businesses organise their data, connect old systems, and create a plan for using AI on a larger scale.
The announcement comes two months after the announcement of Builder MCP, a way to build workflows directly from an AI chat. It lets technical teams build Flowgear workflows directly from an AI chat or local IDE, outside the Flowgear console.
The launch addresses a growing gap between AI ambition and execution.
According to McKinsey’s report, nearly 90% of companies now use AI in at least one business function, but fewer than a third can scale AI programmes beyond a pilot phase.
Another report from an MIT study found that 95% of organisations are seeing no return on their AI investments.
Flowgear says the problem typically sits not with the AI itself but with disconnected software systems, undocumented manual workarounds, siloed departmental data, and weak governance.
“Every organisation wants to excel at AI, but AI can only deliver reliable outcomes when it works with accurate, consistent, and properly controlled data. If your systems aren’t connected and your data isn’t clean, you cannot sprint to AI,” said Anthony Miller, chief revenue officer at Flowgear.
The assessment works with both business and technical teams. Business stakeholders map operational bottlenecks, spreadsheet dependencies, approval delays, and automation opportunities, while Flowgear evaluates existing integrations, security boundaries, and data accessibility across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises applications.
The assessment creates a prioritised plan with four main stages:
- Easy opportunities that provide immediate benefits and solve urgent issues.
- Improvements to standards and governance for better support and control.
- Projects that streamline workflows, reduce manual tasks, and remove redundancy.
- Long-term strategies to move the organisation towards a future with scalable and reliable technology using APIs and AI.
