Payment orchestration platform MoneyHash has partnered with South African payments provider Ozow. The deal lets businesses that use MoneyHash accept Ozow payments in South Africa without building a separate integration.

Merchants can connect to Ozow through their existing MoneyHash setup. They can then manage their payment providers, routing and reporting from one platform. The companies said this should cut the work of running several providers as online payment methods in South Africa grow.

The partnership comes as Ozow marks 12 years in the South African market. It also follows MoneyHash’s appointment of Hwan Lee as Regional Director for Africa. Lee previously held a leadership role at Ozow.

The company also centralises capabilities such as routing, transaction management, and reporting, giving merchants a unified way to manage their payment infrastructure as they scale,

“Having worked within South Africa’s payments ecosystem, I’ve seen both how quickly the market has evolved and the complexity businesses face as they scale their payment operations. There is a significant opportunity for orchestration to connect strong local payment infrastructure with businesses that want to grow within South Africa and across the continent,” said Hwan Lee, Regional Director for Africa at MoneyHash.

Founded in early 2021 by Nader Abdelrazik and Mustafa Eid, MoneyHash is a payment orchestration platform built for emerging and global markets. Businesses can connect to several payment gateways through a single API.

The platform also offers smart payment routing, multi-currency processing and a unified dashboard. For MoneyHash, the Ozow deal is part of a plan to add established local providers across Africa.

“Over the past 12 years, we’ve seen South Africa’s digital payments landscape evolve significantly, alongside growing demand from businesses for simpler and more flexible ways to accept payments. Our partnership with MoneyHash creates another avenue for merchants to access Ozow, while reducing the complexity of integrating and managing multiple payment solutions,” said Catherine Korsten, Chief Growth Officer at Ozow.

Ozow was founded in 2014 by Thomas Pays, Lyle Eckstein and Mitchan Adams and builds real-time payment products. These include Pay by Bank, card payments, PayShap Request, instant refunds, payouts, Buy Now, Pay Later and cash vouchers.

It also supports Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and crypto payments. Ozow is a licensed System Operator and Third-Party Payment Provider with the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA).
