Licínio Chissano & Partners (LCP), the Maputo-based strategic advisory firm founded by Licínio Chissano, has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting high-growth tech startups and scalable climate resilience solutions across Africa, with an initial pilot phase now underway in Mozambique.
The initiative is meant to drive backing for fast-growing tech startups and climate resilience solutions that can scale across Africa. LCP said it has put together a new team to run the programme, operating alongside its existing corporate advisory business but kept separate from it.
The program targets early-stage companies across six sectors: FinTech, Logistics, AgriTech, HealthTech, EdTech, and ClimateTech. The idea of the initiative is to help startups in these sectors address critical operational and structural barriers. The initiative will also prepare them to attract diverse forms of funding, ranging from angel investment and venture capital to donor grants and impact funds.
As part of the pilot phase of this new initiative, LCP has selected 20 high-potential, Mozambique-based startups to receive structuring support. Through tailored advisory services, the firm says it is helping these ventures strengthen their governance, optimise operations, and build the foundational readiness required to secure capital and scale sustainably.
LCP characterised the Mozambique rollout as a proof of concept rather than the program’s final scope, stating the effort “is designed as a scalable blueprint to be expanded across the African continent in future phases.”
The firm said the new unit will operate independently, letting LCP grow its reach across Africa while keeping its commitments to existing clients intact. “Our primary corporate advisory pipeline remains fully distinct and completely unaffected. Your dedicated advisors, ongoing projects, and daily operations continue with the same unwavering focus, speed, and executive attention you have always relied on. This new venture operates independently, allowing us to expand our impact across Africa without compromising our commitments to our existing partners,” LCP noted.
Beyond advisory support, LCP said it is working to link startups with funding sources, engaging angel investors, venture funds, family offices, and grant-making institutions, and building solid investment structures that make it easier for capital to flow in and be repatriated securely.
LCP is inviting outside participation as the program grows. The firm said it is open to working with angel investors, donors, impact funds, and corporate partners who are looking for high-impact opportunities in Africa, and has asked interested parties to reach out to its specialised team. The Mozambique pilot marks the first step in what LCP frames as a continent-wide push to connect African innovation and climate resilience ventures with the capital needed to grow.
