Yellow Card, a stablecoin infrastructure company built around Africa and other emerging markets, has completed the acquisition of Brazilian virtual asset service provider GoMoney.

The deal closed in October and was announced on 4 November 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed. The announcement comes a couple of months after raising a $40 million strategic funding round backed by SC Ventures ( innovation and investment arm of Standard Chartered), Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital and other strategic investors.

The purchase gives Yellow Card its first direct operations in Brazil and widens its footprint in Latin America. GoMoney will run as a wholly owned subsidiary and stay under the leadership of its founders.

GoMoney has applied to the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) for full authorisation as a virtual asset service provider. Until the BCB decides, it continues to operate under Brazil’s transitional regime for such providers.

“We have spent the last eight years building a virtual asset service provider business in Brazil focused on using stablecoins as a means of effecting cross-border payments, similar to what Yellow Card has been doing in Africa and globally over the same period. We are excited to become part of the Yellow Card team, and look forward to expanding our business in Brazil and throughout Latin America,” said Maurício Pires, Co-Founder and CEO of GoMoney.

Founded in 2018, GoMoney is a virtual asset service provider that uses stablecoins for cross-border payments.

Yellow Card said it will now focus on deepening its presence in key markets, expanding its products and strengthening the partnerships it needs to serve businesses operating globally.

Yellow Card clients can now collect and pay out in Brazilian reais, including through Pix, and settle in stablecoins. The service runs through a locally established provider and connects to the treasury and liquidity services Yellow Card offers in its other markets.

Brazil is a large market for this kind of service. Chainalysis data shows the country handled $252.5 billion in crypto activity between July 2025 and June 2026, the most in Latin America.

The same report found stablecoin activity in Brazil grew 495% over its 2024 to 2026 comparison period, helped by business uses such as cross-border transfers and liquidity management.

“Building global financial infrastructure requires compliance with local frameworks, local payment rails, and local expertise and relationships to operate effectively. GoMoney has built a strong foundation in Brazil over the last eight years, and bringing our businesses together will allow us to deliver greater value to customers while accelerating our long-term ambitions,”said Chris Maurice, Co-Founder and CEO of Yellow Card.

Founded in 2016 by Maurice and Justin Poiroux, Yellow Card is a FinTech company that provides stablecoin payments infrastructure for businesses. It has worked in Africa and globally, and offers treasury and liquidity services across its markets.

The company now employs more than 200 people across 20 countries and holds licenses, authorisations or registrations in 22 jurisdictions spanning North America, Europe and Africa.

It has facilitated over $10 billion in transactions and supports more than 50 currencies, with partnerships spanning Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Coinbase.

The company was born out of a chance encounter in 2018, when Maurice and Poiroux met a man who had paid a $90 fee to send $200 from America to his family in Nigeria. The founders cite this experience as the spark for building cheaper, stablecoin-based money movements for emerging markets.
