The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and Coris Holding SA have signed a $91 million financing agreement to strengthen lending to the productive sector across West Africa.
The deal was signed on 30 July 2026 at EBID’s headquarters in Lomé, Togo, by EBID president George Agyekum Donkor and Coris Holding managing director Diakarya Ouattara.
The financing will enable Coris Holding to support projects across the food, energy, and agricultural value chains through its banking network.
The credit line will strengthen the refinancing and lending capacity of the group’s banking subsidiaries, allowing them to extend more financing to businesses, SMEs, and small and medium industries operating in the region’s productive sectors.
The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) is a financial institution created by the 15 member states of ECOWAS, which include countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Ivory Coast. Its headquarters is in Lome, Togo.
EBID aims to support the economic development of West Africa by financing projects related to transport, energy, telecommunications, industry, poverty alleviation, and the environment.
It provides funding for the public sector through long-term loans and offers various financial services to the private sector, including short and long-term loans, equity participation, and refinancing agreements for national financial institutions.
“This transaction goes beyond a financing arrangement. It reflects the shared confidence of the partners in African institutions, as well as their commitment to strengthening the private sector as a catalyst for economic transformation across West Africa,” said George Agyekum Donkor, president and chairman of the board of directors of EBID.
Donkor mentioned that by partnering with Coris Holding, EBID is helping SMEs and productive sectors get long-term financing, which supports regional integration, job creation, and sustainable growth.
Coris Holding operates a banking network across multiple West African markets and plays a significant role in financing local economies, particularly in support of small and medium businesses.
The transaction aligns with EBID’s strategy of mobilising resources for investments with economic and social impact across the ECOWAS region.
“This agreement is an important milestone in Coris Holding’s ambition to deepen its contribution to financing West African economies. The credit facility will enhance the capacity of our subsidiaries to support businesses and economic actors that create value and drive sustainable growth across the region,” said Diakarya Ouattara, managing director of Coris Holding SA.
