Moroccan HealthTech company ABA Life has signed a $40 million investment agreement with pan-African private equity firm Admaius Capital Partners. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and clearance by Morocco’s Competition Council.

The new funding will support growth focused on three main areas: expanding the “AI for Sovereign Health” programme using its Mediot AI platform and clinical solutions, scaling up its healthcare technologies, and entering international markets.

Additionally, ABA Life plans to create a next-gen health tech platform in Morocco and aims to become one of the country’s leading tech companies.

“In five years, we have shown that a profitable healthcare technology model, able to deploy at scale, can be built from Morocco. This funding marks the start of a new phase: acceleration and internationalisation. Our ambition is to make ABA Life a global healthtech reference and one of Morocco’s next unicorns. With AI for Sovereign Health, we want to develop a new generation of clinical intelligence in Morocco and take it to international markets,” said Mohamed Benouda, Founder and Chairman of ABA Technology.

ABA Life is the healthcare arm of ABA Technology, founded and chaired by Mohamed Benouda. Launched in 2021, the company has built an integrated and profitable model that brings together artificial intelligence, medical technology, telemedicine, connected health infrastructure, and clinical operations.

It has delivered large-scale healthcare programmes in partnership with public institutions and foundations, using technology to widen access to care across the country.

“From our very first discussions, we were impressed by what ABA Life has built: an integrated healthcare operator combining medical devices, connected infrastructure, care operations and proprietary technology developed in Morocco. We are pleased to support Mohamed Benouda and his teams in this new phase of growth and international expansion,” said Selim Ettriqui, Head of Morocco and West Africa at Admaius Capital Partners.

Admaius is a private equity firm based in Kigali that manages $320 million through its Virunga Africa Fund 1. It has offices in several cities, including Cairo, Nairobi, and London. The firm is led by experienced African professionals, including former leaders from major investment firms like Carlyle and Actis.

Admaius focuses on key sectors for Africa’s growth, such as healthcare, financial services, education, consumer goods, and digital infrastructure, aiming to achieve strong financial returns while also making a positive social impact.

“ABA Life has the qualities we look for in our investments: an ambitious entrepreneurial team, a proven business model, strong technology foundations and significant potential to scale. We are convinced of its ability to become an international healthtech reference and are pleased to support this ambition,” added Marlon Chigwende, Managing Partner at Admaius Capital Partners.
