Invest Kenya and the East Africa Venture Capital Association (EAVCA) have renewed their partnership to mobilise and accelerate private capital investment in the country. Both organisations see the partnership as a way to reinforce Kenya’s standing as a leading private capital hub in East Africa.
“Private capital is shaping the future of economic growth. Kenya continues to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s leading investment destinations, and our partnership with EAVCA will focus on mobilising private capital into priority sectors, advancing investment policy reforms, strengthening market intelligence and deepening public-private collaboration,” said John Mwendwa, CEO of Invest Kenya.
The renewed partnership between the two organisations is designed to connect investors with high-potential Kenyan businesses, strengthen investment intelligence, and build investable deal pipelines. The cooperation also aims to close the gap between investor interest and actual capital deployment while supporting businesses with the capacity to scale and attract both domestic and international funding.
Under the renewed arrangement, the two bodies will jointly run “investment promotion activities, including targeted investment missions, roadshows, and initiatives to develop and market Kenya’s pipeline of investment opportunities.” The partnership will also enable the sharing of market intelligence and investment insights, supporting evidence-based decision-making among investors and other stakeholders, the statement said.
Beyond capital mobilisation, the collaboration will extend to investor readiness, capacity building and policy engagement, contributing to what the organisations describe as a stronger investment ecosystem in which businesses can scale and investors can commit capital with greater confidence.
Invest Kenya (formerly known as the Kenya Investment Authority) is a statutory body established in 2004 under the Investment Promotion Act No. 6 of 2004, operating within the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry. Its primary mandate is to promote and facilitate investment in the country by supporting the implementation of new investment projects, providing aftercare services to new and existing investors, and organising local and international investment promotion activities.
The stated goal of Invest Kenya is to become a leading African investment promotion agency and the renewed partnership with EAVCA could be the driver to achieve that goal.
Christine Maina, CEO of EAVCA, said, “[This] partnership would help create a stronger link between investors allocating capital and the public institutions responsible for shaping the investment environment.”
The partnership reinforces the agency’s commitment to working with private-sector stakeholders to unlock investment opportunities, strengthen Kenya’s competitiveness, and translate investor interest into tangible investments, stronger enterprises and sustainable economic growth.
