WildMango, a Nairobi-based technology venture, has secured one of the most significant AI distribution partnerships on the African continent. The firm announced on 28 April 2026 that it has entered a formal partnership with OpenAI, one of the American AI giant’s first small and medium business (SMB) partnerships in Africa.

The deal is designed to put OpenAI’s artificial intelligence tools and frontier models within the reach of African businesses, developers, and institutions. The announcement comes at a time when demand for AI technologies is rapidly accelerating in Africa and will unlock new economic opportunities, accelerate innovation.

This partnership comes against a backdrop of expanding digital infrastructure and growing entrepreneurial activity across African markets, alongside public-sector transformation initiatives. For WildMango, which describes itself as a connector of strategy, cutting-edge technology, and business ecosystems, the partnership showcases its ability to help Africa become more than a passive recipient of AI.

Serah Katusya, co-founder of WildMango, said, “Our partnership with OpenAI positions Africa at the forefront of the global AI transformation. We are striving to make sure Africa is not left behind. We are not just expanding access; our ambition is to shape how AI is deployed and used in African contexts. This is about ensuring that the continent participates fully in the future, underpinned by Artificial intelligence.”

Under the agreement, WildMango will take on the distribution, integration, and localisation of OpenAI’s products and services across the continent. The company will work directly with enterprises, startups, and public institutions to deploy AI-driven tools aimed at lifting productivity, improving decision-making, and transforming service delivery.

“OpenAI recognises that implementing new technology requires a specialised skillset and a clear understanding of both the power of technology and the way businesses operate. WildMango’s deep understanding of the African market, paired with their commitment to impact and long-term client success, gives us confidence in this partnership. We’re excited to join forces with WildMango to engage and empower this ecosystem, and to ensure AI delivers lasting value for the continent,” said Ben Tyson, Sr. Partner Enablement Manager at OpenAI.

The press release further notes that the partnership is structured around four areas: access expansion, localisation, unlocking local agency, and ecosystem development. One of the key roles of WildMango is to adapt OpenAI’s offering to the local use cases and specific needs of African markets.

WildMango has also committed to responsible deployment, with a focus on safety, inclusivity, and long-term societal benefit. For African businesses, the partnership will immediately open access to models and infrastructure previously difficult to adopt. With WildMango as a local partner, they get a local guide for implementation and a lower barrier to entry to integrate AI.
